Tour Details
Tibet is a mountainous region within China. Originally its own kingdom, Tibet has maintained a strong national identity within the Chinese state. While Tibet has its own language and arts, Tibetan identity is mostly defined by the extremely important role of Tibetan Buddhism.
Situated on a plateau averaging 15,000 ft (4,500 m) above sea level, it is the highest region in the world. Its surrounding mountain ranges include the Kunlun Mountains and the Himalayas; Mount Everest (Chomolungma) rises on its border with Nepal. Tibet emerged as a powerful Buddhist kingdom in the 7th–9th century ce.
A Kathmandu-Tibet tour offers a unique experience, blending Nepal's vibrant culture with the stunning landscapes and spiritual wonders of Tibet. Tibet, known as the "Roof of the World," is renowned for its breathtaking Himalayan scenery, ancient monasteries, and sacred sites like Lhasa and Mount Everest Base Camp.
Additional Notes:
- Visa: You need both a Tibet Travel Permit (obtained through a registered tour operator in Tibet) and a Chinese Visa to enter Tibet.
- Altitude: Lhasa is situated at a high altitude, so it’s important to acclimatize properly. You should take the first day or two easy to avoid altitude sickness.
- Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit Tibet is from April to October, with the months of May to September being particularly favorable for travel. Winter months (November to February) can be harsh, especially near Everest Base Camp.
