expedition Details

Mera Peak is one of the most popular trekking peaks in Nepal, known for its stunning views of the Himalayas. It's a great option for those who want a challenge but don't need to tackle a full 8,000-meter peak.Mera Peak is located in the Mahalangur range of the Himalayas. It stands at 6,476 meters (21,247 feet) above sea level, making it the highest trekking peak in Nepal, and offers a challenging yet accessible climb for those looking to experience mountaineering in the Himalayas.

Here’s a brief overview of Mera Peak:

  1. Location: Mera Peak is located in the Solu-Khumbu region of Nepal, in the Everest region, near the popular Everest base camp trekking routes.

  2. Difficulty: Though it is technically a "trekking peak," Mera Peak requires basic mountaineering skills such as the use of ice axes, crampons, and ropes. It’s considered more difficult than typical trekking but is achievable with proper preparation and physical conditioning.

  3. Climbing Routes: The standard route is from the south through the Mera La Pass, which involves glacier crossings and ice climbing. The summit provides stunning panoramic views of peaks like Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kanchenjunga.

  4. Best Time to Climb: The best times to attempt Mera Peak are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is most stable.

  5. Trekking and Climbing Duration: The entire journey, including trekking to the base camp and acclimatization, typically takes around 18-22 days, depending on your pace.

  6. Trekking to Mera Peak: The trek to the base of Mera Peak is also a highlight, passing through remote villages, forests, and rugged terrain. It offers great insight into local Sherpa culture, and the majestic views of the surrounding mountains.
